IN 2020 Bambi’s Den merged with a Friargate Alterations, Leren has worked at Friargate Alterations for over 5 years now.

Established in 1979, Friargate Alterations is a longstanding alterations shop that was founded by Julie Manning and has been servicing Derby for the past 40 years. With over 4 decades of experience behind us we’re dedicated seamstresses that cover a wide range of sewing, repair and alteration skills from casual wear, tailoring, formal and bridal wear.

We also pride ourselves on being the most experienced alteration shop in derby, with a long list of loyal customers, independent shops and you’ll always find newbies walking through our doors. Friargate Alterations started with Julie’s ethos of make do and mend, after all that is the main concept of alterations, wear and repair. Over the years the business has gone from strength to strength and grown into a service that still caters for any small repair work but also tailors clothing to fit our customers needs.

A Zero Waste Approach

We recycle most of our off-cuts from alterations to our Sister Brand Bambi’s Den, where we create zero waste and one off pieces. This means we reduce our waste going to landfill, our off-cuts will be made into anything from Bucket Hats, Scrunchies, Patchwork Clothing or trims and thrills. We’ve recently started selling some of our off-cuts which can be used for stuffing, doll making, quilting and much more. We’re always looking at ways we can reduce of textile waste and be more planet friendly.
